Park of the aqueducts

The Parco degli Acquedotti of Rome is a green area of 240 hectares located southeast of the historic center of Rome. This park is one of the largest and most important parks in Rome and is famous for its ancient Roman aqueducts, which run through it. The park is open to the public and can be visited every day.
Roman aqueducts were built between the third century BC and the second century AD to supply the city of Rome with drinking water. In total, eleven aqueducts were built, bringing water from distant sources to the city of Rome. The Roman aqueducts were a feat of engineering and many of them can still be seen today, including those that run through the Parco degli Acquedotti.
The Parco degli Acquedotti houses three of the main Roman aqueducts: the Claudio Aqueduct, the Felice Aqueduct and the Marcio Aqueduct. The Claudius Aqueduct was built between 38 and 52 AD and was the largest of the Roman aqueducts, with a length of 68 kilometres. The Felice Aqueduct was built in 1586 and is about 20 kilometers long. The Marcius Aqueduct was built in 144 BC and was the first aqueduct to bring water to Rome.
The Park offers a series of paths and trails that allow you to explore the aqueducts and the surrounding nature. There are also picnic areas and a children's play area. The park's trails are suitable for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
The Parco degli Acquedotti is home to numerous species of flora and fauna. Among the plants present in the park there are oaks, pines, cypresses, olive trees and fig trees. Among the animals that live in the park are foxes, hares, badgers and various birds.
The Parco degli Acquedotti often hosts cultural events and shows. These include concerts, plays, art exhibitions and food festivals. During the summer, the park also hosts an open-air cinema.
The park is an extraordinary place where it is possible to immerse yourself in the history of ancient Rome and in the surrounding nature. Thanks to its paths, the fauna and flora that inhabit it and the numerous activities it offers, the park represents a unique experience for visitors of all ages.
